Where & How is Lansdowne?
Lansdowne is a small hill station in Uttarkhand, pauri district. Distance from Delhi is 280 Km and 30km from Kotdwar. It is a military cantonment area, the respected Garhwal Rifles. It is covered like a rainforest area, narrow roads. You will encounter beautiful scenic views & no heavy crowd. I personally pefer going to same place as it is.
What to See?
This place offers many things. One of the most famous things about this place is the view of sunrise & sunset. I was amazed to see golden hour of the day. Here one can visit war memorial, garhwal rifles, Historical Church, Tip n Top point, Lake, Temple and many more things. You can take walk on the military road and enjoy morning & evening.
Where to Stay?
There are many options to stay in Lansdowne. There are home stays, hotels & resorts. Options are very limited and If we talk about the budget of the stay here. It start from 1000 per night and went up to 7000-8000 per night. Now, there are few more interesting resort coming with adventure activities also so, kids can also enjoy. You can do your research to find the best hotel to stay to find out the best view of hills.
How to Reach?
Reaching to Lansdowne is quite comfortable. It is well connected to Delhi by road and by train. Nearest airport is in Dehradun. You can take private taxi from Delhi. THere are ordinary bus from Delhi to Kotdwar. From Kotdwar there are regular private taxis to lansdowne. There are two options of by train one is mussorie express and another one Garhwal Express. The departure point by train is Kotdwar and then you can take bus or taxi according to your convenience.

Bus from Kashmere Gate to Kotdwar – approx 300-500 INR
Train from Delhi to Kotdwar – Mussorie & Garhwal Express
My Experience
Last month I have visited Lansdowne and stayed in Samskara & Samsara Resort. It is one of the most amazing stays in Lansdowne. They have luxury camping and also offers hotel stay. Best part is you can enjoy the sunset near to the property. Property is pet friendly and food is like cheery on the cake. Most of the food is organic and from their garden. They have huge green ground to walk to sit and very well designed location. They have the first bar in the entire location. If you are looking for luxury stay this new year and then you can try Samskara & Samsara.
If you haven’t decided where to go then you can consider Lansdowne. Small hill station but offers many things. Don’t be confuse check your self and enjoy this year. Happy new Year.
